Meet our founder
In 2020, amidst a pandemic and a time of global introspection, Melissa Burgess founded Tabor North. Her daily treks up Mt. Tabor in Portland, Oregon, with her young son sparked the dream of creating a values-driven company that merged her grassroots organizing background with her expertise in strategic communications to support community and social change.
Melissa has over a decade of experience creating and implementing communications and marketing strategies for clients in both the public and private sectors - from Fortune 500 companies to local nonprofits and government agencies. Her approach to work emphasizes collaboration and the power of collective action.
She is also the founder of the Oregon Communications Mentorship Collective and is driven by the belief that effective communication can build stronger communities, and strong communities can create a more inclusive world.
